"That Dragon, Cancer" is an amazing and powerful piece of interactive art that is kickstarting now. Like Neverending Nightmares, it tries to express something personal about the creator. I played an early version, so in this video, I talk about how awesome it is and how it succeeds in some ways that Neverending Nightmares came a little short.

Yeah, That Dragon, Cancer, does sound pretty unique. Even games that have tried to make a point and generate emotions that aren't necessarily fun, like Depression Quest, Papers Please, or This War Of Mine, have generally had some sort of gamey mechanics.

Yeah. You can definitely make emotional games, but I think game mechanics don't make sense for every emotion and situation. I don't know how That Dragon, Cancer could be done as a traditional game, and I don't think it'd be as good as a movie or any other medium.
