Hi!
I think it'd be a good idea if Matt would also publish some of his Developer Diaries in the form of podcasts. In that way Neverending Nightmares fans would have an additional medium, besides Youtube, to follow the game developments.

Re: Podcasts
Were you thinking that I would just take the audio out and concatenate them into hour long episodes or something like that? Or were you thinking that I do something more podcast-y by discussing various things with other team members or something along those lines?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Podcasts
Basically I was thinking about extracting the audio and make them podcasts. I think they don't need to be hour-long, but you can also group them if you want an extended audio. You may group them thematically, for example the ones where you talk about the video games that influenced Neverending Nightmares. In my opinion these podcasts would be fine to hear when you're jogging or doing some other activity. Nevertheless, not all your Youtube videos would be suitable for a podcast conversion (for example the one of your office tour).
On the other hand, doing something more podcast-y, that is to say original podcasts not derived from your Youtube videos, would be also great.
Thanks,
Mario.

Re: Podcasts
Dunno if it would count as advertising or not, but there are tools for converting YouTube-clips into mp3s.
I do that with a lot of longer videos and use them as podcasts. Just google for that kind of tool yourself - if I shouldn't post a link - and use those to convert matt's videos yourself.
I dunno about the Inner Circle videos (which are not on YouTube), but for the Developer Diaries at least it would work.

Re: Podcasts
I'll look into it when I get the chance. I have all the source videos, and I can use ffmpeg to rip out the audio tracks in combination with a perl script. How do people distribute podcasts? I never really got into the podcast thing, so I'm not sure how people consume them.

Hi Matt!
It'd be fine if you get the chance to do it!
I think you could try Podomatic for distribution.

Cool, I'll check that out when I get a chance.

Re: Podcasts
Apologies for the double post, but I wanted to bump this up since I have new info:
Okay I looked into it, and the problem with audio hosting on the web is that there is no place that offers a lot of storage space. I generate a lot of content and already have more developer diaries than free hosting would offer.
Podomatic only offers 500 MB, and soundcloud has a 2 hour limit for free accounts. I have 576 MB of audio and 8 hours of content. D'oh.
infinitapgames.com host doesn't have much storage space, so I can't do the obvious... If I'm going to pay for a service, I'd have to look at what is cost effective. Maybe I should put it on Amazon S3 or something. I suspect that'd be cheaper than for these other services, and I'm not really sure what features they provide that I would need beyond just hosting - especially since I could already reference the files on my blog.
Why isn't there a youtube like site with infinite storage for audio? *sigh*
Anyway, for the time being, I uploaded all the developer diaries as of yesterday in one big zip here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/564 ... _12_13.zip
Be aware they are poorly named and have no ID3 tag information, so it's a bit of a mess. Maybe I'll try to create a better process for making audio files moving forward.
I probably won't get a chance to work out a good audio hosting solution for a while though.

Re: Podcasts
Hey Matt, if you're still interested I've found a website with no audio storage limit. It's http://www.ivoox.com which is popular among Spanish-speaking podcasters. I think the only problem you'd have is that the web interface is in Spanish only (I'm assuming you don't speak Spanish but I may be wrong) but I think you could do fairly well if you use Google Translate.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Re: Podcasts
Unfortunately, I don't speak Spanish.
It looks like they add advertisements to the podcast, and I imagine they would be a little annoying to those of us that don't speak Spanish. Maybe I'll just hold off for now until I can figure out a better scheme.
