An Xbox One just to try Crimson Dragon? While it is totally worth it to me, I'm afraid you might be disappointed. The gameplay is pretty old school rail shooter, which is nothing to write home about. Personally, I love rail shooters so that's not an issue for me.

I'm sure the world will be cool, but I'm a little concerned that it may not be the best game to everyone because it seems a little rushed. The E3 demo was cool but kind of buggy, which is a little worrisome considering it's been in development for YEARS!

That being said, I think no matter what, I'm going to totally love it. :)

I am getting the xbox one for now. It is pretty cheap. I have even considered getting a sega system to try out the old one. I'll probably wait though. For me it is a learning experience. Just like when I was in college and a professor I respected recommended a book for further learning. The books were real treasures (but not ny best sellers), the point was never that they all contained something interesting to learn. Looking at your collection, I am sure to find valuable information from it.

Ah, I see your point. Few people approach "playing games" as research, but that's what I've been doing over my career. I worked on action platformers for the first 5 years of my career, so in my spare time, I mostly played those. During Retro/Grade, I played a lot of rhythm games and shmups. Now, I'm playing a lot of horror games. You can learn so much from other games if you approach them analytically.

Panzer Dragoon had amazing music, and from what I heard at E3 (which required careful listening skills), it sounds like Crimson Dragon will deliver there as well. :)

I want to play this game because I have a friend who's been utterly obsessed with it since we were both in middle school, which was literally an entire decade ago. But... I don't have an Xbox. Should I watch a LP of it?

If you have a 360, it is on the backwards compatibility list, so you can still play it. If you have no Xbox at all, it might be worth checking out in an LP. Make sure it's a high quality one because the graphics are really beautiful.

Ouch! The reviews are in for Crimson Dragon, and it's not pretty:
http://www.metacritic.com/game/xbox-one/crimson-dragon

It seems like they kept the free to play mechanics from the mobile version, which made sense for a $0.99 game, but seems like a terrible choice for a $20 game...

I'm still going to get it, but this is a bit of a bummer - especially because they'll never make another one given the poor reception.

I guess it's not too late to cancel your Xbox One preorder if you only wanted Crimson Dragon.... :-/ If you will excuse me, I have to go cry! hahaha

Maybe I'll do alright with my years of Panzer Dragoon skills! Probably not though. I read they just pushed an update making Crimson Dragon, so I was happy. :)
