More languages?

For Brazilian vs. regular Portuguese, I would probably want to choose the one that is more widely understood, so if people in Brazil understand regular Portuguese that may be a better choice. I really don't know anything about the languages yet, so something to research later...

Matt, as someone who works regularly with Brazilians (thought I am not Brazilian myself), I can tell you that many of my co-workers have told me that they struggle to understand Portugal Portugeuse (they've even told me that it's easier for them to understand native Spanish speakers from Argentina and Colombia than it is to understand native Portugeuse speakers from Portugal). That being said, I think merely by population (200 million in Brazil vs 10.5 million in Portugal), you might be better off translating to Brazilian Portugeuse.

I know that our KS sample is small, but just for example Gabriel was from Brazil, and I believe there was another person from the comment section from Brazil. I can't think of a single person from Portugal on the KS forums.

It's a bit of a ridiculous extrapolation (and obviously a very small sample with a high possibility of not being representative), but if you had to make me guess, I would guess you would be better off with Brazilian Portuguese (obviously this is the kind of thing you'd want to do more research into...I'm just giving you feedback because I interact with Brazilians on a daily basis).

Do you know if they mean in terms of speech or text? While I have a terrible time understanding people with thick Irish accents, the text would be the same besides regional slang. I wonder if it's a similar situation? Anyway, I'll keep that in mind. As you said, the sheer numbers of Brazilians might make it more attractive than proper Portuguese anyway.

and I only saw that today
well it is true, not only on text but speak it is easy to understand Spanish than Portuguese from Portugal, their accent is TO strong, that make a lot difficult to understand and for Brazilian portuguese, a lot of ours nouns are totally different (for example one thing that everyone get's confused, the masculine is called "cueca" and the feminine is "calcinha" but for they "cueca" is for women and man at the same time; another big example is that "boceta" is little box for Portugal...but here...this is extremely vulgar name for "vagina" ...) and not only for that but they grammar is like extremely polite portuguese, people without study or even without a good grammar can get confused easily.

So Yeah... even speaking the same language it is toooooooo different, the difference is even bigger than American english / Canadian english / British english.

If you want any help or even some translator let me know, I can probably give you some help

Sorry Matt but I don't have the slightest idea about that D:
But they portuguese is a bit more polite than ours...so... I think that they don't understand much
and this things that I'm saying is because they are really different, and some times it's get funny hearing something that is very different in your language, but if a bit of effort you can understand,
But how another person said on the topic, the numbers that you have of people that speak the brazilian portuguese is a lot bigger

Just saw the announcement about localizations and I just have to ask this. Do you guys consider including Russian localization? I just find it weird that you outright ignore Russia and CIS countries in this regard.

We did consider adding a Russian localization, but decided against it for launch. Russian localizations are more expensive to translate than other European languages (French, Italian, German, Spanish). The main difficulty is that we'd have to add all of the Cyrillic characters to our custom font, which is a lot of work. (Perhaps it was a bad decision on our part to use a custom font)

For launch, we really have our hands full with 8 languages and 4 platforms, so we really can't take on any more work. If the game is successful, we will consider adding other localization options.

We only have 4 full time people working on the game, so like many indie developers, we can't cover every language.
