175 - Puzzles in Horror Games

While horror is a genre of games, that doesn't describe the actual gameplay. Thomas Grip (creative director on Amnesia and the upcoming SOMA) blogged that he felt that puzzles were the best fit for horror gameplay. In this developer diary, I talk about my thoughts on the subject and how we are trying to keep very light on puzzles in Neverending Nightmares.
