Level: Basement is level... 4, I think?

In the cellar (1st open door, out of "bedroom") the lamp in the upper left corner does not cast a shadow, plus the flame appears over the player character.

Thanks for the bug report. Is it possible to take a screenshot of the room, so I know exactly what you are talking about? We have quite a few different basements in different nightmares.

Otherwise, can you describe what the objective of the level is and/or what enemies you fight?

In "Lost Child" after falling through the basement ceiling:

Wow, great catch - especially the missing shadow problem. That is really subtle!

It'll be fixed in the next build. Thank you so much for pointing it out!

Here's another example: in "Final Descent", first room after waking up:



The lamp marked "?" is the one I presume is the origin of the shadow circled in the same color, but the perspective leads me to expect the shadow to be cast at the location marked in yellow.

Am I going overboard with this? I should warn you that a lot of instances, and less obvious ones at that, caught my eye.

Due to a limitation of the way our faux 3D shadows in a 2D world work, lamps on the side of the world can't cast shadows. We basically raytrace the player as his 2D silhouette, so a light on the side would basically be casting against something infinitesimally thin and/or just plain wrong. Because of that, the light in the red is just supposed to not cast a shadow. There is a check box in the editor, but it looks like Joe had the wrong value.

Would you still like to have perspective errors reported, if they're from a light source located behind the player?

Also, do you have level layouts, on which I could simply mark the location of the bugs I find?

Sure, I'd be interested in perspective errors! Unfortunately, I don't think we have very accurate maps for most of the levels.

NOTE: Generally speaking, I considered every light source from a side wall an error, unless the lamp was located in a corner, near the back wall. Of course, I can't tell if the benefit of fixing them is worth the effort, or if I'll be the only one to notice (I recall your GDC speech about Retrograde; it was heart-wrenching).
