Has a video game ever made you cry? I'm a big wuss, so the answer is yes. In this video, I talk about the one game that did and emotions in games.

You ask if a video game has ever made me cry, I would say that there are a few that have choked me up a few times like The Walking Dead and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. The only game that ever got me to shed a tear though was To The Moon, that game near the end just tugs on your heartstrings and when you get to that lighthouse it's just...gah ;-; hahahaa
I love games though that are able to provoke those kinds of emotions from me, as they are (usually) wonderfully crafted pieces of entertainment. As old hat as it is to say nowadays about the game industry, more character development, story and emotions please!
(Also apologies for my absence from these forums and such, just been busy with Uni work. S'been eating up all my free time! hahaha D:)

Yeah, I think everyone is always talking about creating the Citizen Kane of games and creating emotional resonance, but few really deliver on that.
The main goal of Neverending Nightmares is to bring feelings to the player, and while no one may shed a tear during it, I hope it'll be an emotional journey.
Also, no need to apologize for your absence on the forums! School can be challenging, and I think it's more important than our forums. hehehe

I hadn't heard of Lost Odyssey, but I looked up the Dreams you mentioned, and turns out there's a playlist on Youtube with what looks like all of them: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4FE03279FA2A0C42
They look very good from what I watched, sparsely written but very poetic and descriptive.
Dark Souls makes me cry, but for the wrong reasons.
Seriously though, The Walking Dead season 1 ending was the only thing I can remember that got me that hard emotionally. I was also really moved by The Longest Journey, and to a lesser extent the sequel Dreamfall, you really get to care for the characters. I'm hoping for good things from Dreamfall Chapters, which pulled in a decent amount on Kickstarter. Fingers crossed!

Walking Dead season 1 was awesome. Have you played Walking Dead Season 2 yet? How is it? I loved season 1, but for some reason, I haven't been motivated to play Season 2. I'm not quite sure what I'm waiting for. I guess I maybe was hoping for a PS4 port or something.

Re: 102 - Lost Odyssey
Walking Dead Season 2 started out strong. The big decisions so far haven't had been the tough choices you saw in Season 1, but it's still early so that has time to change. Even now that Sean and Jake are gone from the team, the writing is still really solid. Having you play Clem this time was a really good decision, you have all this history built up with her going into the game from Season 1, and survival is now about being smart and fast, as opposed to Lee who was capable of defending himself physically.
It's just one episode so far, the next one is supposed to be out within the month, but it's been a little over two months and I have a feeling that 2 months is going to be the minimum release schedule, what with them also working on Fables and gearing up for a Game of Thrones game.

the only game that made me cry is Tales of Phantasia, SPOILER when Rhea can finally repose in peace, because I couldn't do anything to save her, I was too late, she is already dead SPOILER

Re: 102 - Lost Odyssey
I have cried at Walking Dead, and I also teared up at the ending of Earthbound (Mother 2), and I full on cried at the end of Mother 3.
The Mother series really connects with me for some reason.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one moved by video games.
