Hanging Out With Hideo Kojima Turns Into 9/11 2.0

Guys, I had the most bizarre nightmare the other night.

I was hanging out on a rooftop in NYC, in view of the brand new WTC building, with the creator of Metal Gear Solid, Hideo Kojima. He told me I had won a contest, and that he was going to give me a tablet, two guitars, Hideo's personal version of the Oculus Rift, and a bunch of other crap. Only I start worrying that it's going to be a pain in the ass carrying all this junk home from NYC. Suddenly, I look up and see the roof of the WTC building smoking, and it begins to collapse. I see faces of people screaming in terror. I have the realization that I am witnessing people die.

Suddenly the wreckage begins damaging the rooftop I am on, and the building collapses. I awaken.

A very anti-consumerism dream! All this junk I've just won is followed by horrible tragedy.

Strange shit. Gotta stop reading video game news before bed I guess.

Wow, that's crazy! I almost physically ran into Hideo Kojima at E3 once. I also started playing Penumbra yesterday, and I dreamed I was still playing.

I've dreamed that I was playing video games more times than I'm comfortable counting. Sometimes I'll start a play session, get confused, and realize that I was remembering parts of a dream I had. And it makes me feel boring and unimaginative.

Metal Gear Solid was the game changer for me back in the day, and Metal Gear Solid 3 is still firmly one of my favorite games of all time. If I ever encountered Hideo Kojima in person, I would probably freeze completely. If he talked to me, I'd probably start frothing at the mouth and have a seizure, right then and there.

I don't think he really talked to me. I think he just looked uncomfortable and walked away. Not sure if it's because he is sick of getting swamped by fans or he didn't understand English.

I did force Yu Suzuki to pose for a picture with me. I *love* Shenmue, so I couldn't let that opportunity pass.
