Someone wanted about to see more about my office and my video game collection, so I recorded this video. Enjoy!

Oh cool, thanks for doing that! I was curious to see your setup and those shelves in the background. It's always fascinating to me to see people's collections, especially when they're as interesting and varied as yours is :)

You have some systems, and games from systems, that I didn't even know anything about, that's really cool to look through.

I kinda miss the big box packaging. As much space as they could take up, the artwork could get really creative, and I didn't realize how well made those Sega Saturn and CD packages were, they look very solid and stack together really nicely. I wish I'd kept more of my cases. I mostly had just PC games, but I had some of the gigantic boxes they used to come in, and some of them were pretty cool looking, like the pyramid shaped original Tomb Raider box. The game boxes I have left are now relegated to just one shelf on my bookcase, I got tired of storing them all. At least I kept the original Fallout and Fallout 2 manuals though, those are beautiful. They're done up like small spiral bound notebooks, with really quality glossy paper stock.

Do you have any interesting light guns in that accessory mix, like a Sega Menacer? I remember my friend having a Menacer for the Sega Genesis and it seemed so cool. I think Terminator 2 was the only game he had that it worked with but I wanted one so badly. Looking back it's probably for the best I didn't have the money to blow on one. I almost bought a 32x, but couldn't afford that either as a kid.

Matt, THAT was awesome. A big thank you from me. It is so cool, to see your workplace and your collection. And wow, you have a 3DO. I have one too and i think, that was an amazing console. But it falls because of the high price and the bad games. I like FMV, so that was my best time in my life, were i used this system. I had nearly all games, which were buyable in germany. I still have all the games and the console, maybe, i plug it in in the near future. I like collecting games too. It is sad, that this time is nearly over with the digital market (but i will get a boxed copy of your game, yeah).

For me, you can do such a show again and show more jewels of gaming history.

A question, is this the place with the computers, where you program Neverending Nightmares? How do you work with the other artist?

Thanks again, that was great.

Yeah the PC big box packaging were really annoying to keep, but pretty nice. I think i have some PC boxes in my parents basement still. Maybe I was always a hoarder? :-P

I do have lots of light guns, but unfortunately no menacer. I have a Super scope 6 or two, light guns for Master System, NES Zapper, Genesis (the Lethal Enforcer handguns), Saturn, Xbox, PS2, PS3, and maybe a few more that slipped my mind. :) It makes me very sad that light guns don't work with modern TVs. That's why I still have the giant CRT. I want to be able to still play my light gun games! :)

Until I started college, I just had NES, SNES, GameBoy, N64, and then Dreamcast. I picked up the Saturn cheap my freshman year, and then just went crazy from there. :)

I also love FMV games! Did you play The Gunstringer: Wavy Tubeman Chronicles for Kinect? It was pretty amazing. It was a parody of Mad Dog McCree. My wife totally didn't get why I loved it so much. Hahah

That computer is where I do all my programming. I work with the artists and Dan, the other programmer, over email and IM. It is far from ideal, but we can't afford to get a real office... :-/

No, i havent played The Gunstringer: Wavy Tubeman Chronicles. The problem is, that i cant use kinect because of my physically handycap (i nearly cant play any games on modern consoles because i cant use the controller very good). It is sad, that FVM games are nearly gone.

miumiaou - Just stop by my office, and I'll lend you some. :-P

Stefan - Ah, sorry. I didn't think about that. Have you played Heavy Rain or Beyond: Two Souls? I played Heavy Rain, and it FELT like an FMV game. I wish it had real FMVs though. Beyond: Two Souls is apparently even less interactive and has actual actors and actresses mocapped. It's probably as close as you can get to an FMV game these days... :-/

Stefan, how do you like Point & Click adventures or turn-based strategy-games? They are currently having a bit of a resurgence, especially in the Indie market, and I'd imagine such games would be easier to play for you physically?

That reminds me that I want to play Gunstringer sometime. The only Kinect games I've really gotten into so far have been the Dance Central series. Not sure if it makes any difference, but Gunstringer is controlled with the hands and arms alone, unlike many Kinect games where you have to move your whole body.

You didn't tell us about your favorite Virtual Boy games, Matt. :) I actually got a Virtual Boy for Christmas back when it came out. Within a few months, stores were practically giving them away. Looking back, it seems strange that Nintendo thought this could actually be successful. But it did have a few good games. VB Wario Land, Mario's Tennis, and Galactic Pinball were all fun, but none of them really needed to be in 3D.

If you want, I can give you an R-Zone system. I have way too many of those things. I collected most of the games for it, and almost every lot on eBay included a system. Even considering that, they still weren't that expensive. The effect of having the game floating in front of your face is pretty cool, but once the gimmick wears off, you realize you're still just playing a Tiger LCD game.
