Actually no the whole background is moving as one piece line by line. And i have a radedon graphics card, not the best graphics card but it works.matt wrote: I believe what you are seeing is a result of not vsyncing. it appears as a horizontal line where the lines in the background don't connect. On the top everything is in one position, and below, it is elsewhere? Does that sound like what you are seeing?

Hi Loverofbooks,
I'm sorry you are having trouble. Just so I can confirm, is it a screen tear that looks something like this:

Are you playing full screen? Do you know what Radeon card you have?
Thanks!

yes i am playing fullsceen, and it is an intel hd graphics family (if im in the right place). And yes that is kind of like that but it has the lines all over the screen. I may just need to upgrade my graphics card.

Hmm... That's really weird. It sounds like you are using intel integrated graphics and not the Radeon.
Do you know if you have a radeon card in there? All intel mobos recently have HDMI plugs, but if you connect that to your monitor, it won't use your video card. Even if your radeon is old, I suspect you'll get better performance out of that. If you have a PCI slot with DVI or HDMI out, that's where you'll want to connect your monitor.
If you only have the intel, I would recommend upgrading your drivers:
http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect
The default Intel OpenGL driver is TERRIBLE, but later releases have been better.
Let me know if any of that helps!
Thanks for your patience!

In regards to the screen tearing, try unplugging your monitor cables and re-connecting them. Sometimes that helps. Also, make sure you only have one cable connected to the video card. I have a Radeon 7870, and I had a second HDMI cable running to my 55" TV so I could play my PC games on my HDTV. However when I left that HDMI cable connected to my TV it would create a horizontal tear on my computer monitor when playing. As soon as I disconnected that other cable, it went back to normal. Just double check the connections on the cable.
As for the alpha, burned through it quickly. I agree with all the other comments here in regards to bugs - candle/axe lagging behind you as you run, etc.
I definitely agree with an earlier post that there should be some more interactive objects. Some of the rooms unfortunately you walk into and there's nothing to do in them. Looking under beds, opening chests, interacting with toys (dolls, rocking horse) would be great for adding more atmosphere to the game. Basically right now it's walk around until you see something in color.
The lighting is fantastic, I love the way you utilized the light coming in from the windows on the floor and added jump scares by introducing shadows along them.
Sound is top notch right now, I love how it sounds like something is always following you. The sounds of chains and groans really add to the mood.
Keep up the awesome work Matt and looking forward to a future build.

Awesome! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed the game. We are working on adding more interactivity. We will probably push some of that off until a final polish pass just because we want to make sure we can get all the main game content in by our deadlines.

I cant really unplug anything since i'm using a laptop. XD but i may get out a hdmi cable since i got a new TV this year for Christmas. my old one did not have a hdmi port so i may use the TV as the other monitor and see if that helps.

Ah, well if you have a laptop, that changes things. I don't think the situation would be any better with an HDMI cable. Did you try updating your drivers? That may help. The other option is to decrease the resolution. That will increase the graphical performance most likely.
Sorry for the trouble!
