IGN just released a video on horror games to watch out for in 2014, and Neverending Nightmares is included! It's really an impressive list overall. I think it's a good time to be a horror game fan.

Very nice, although they erroneously say that Neverending Nightmares is being developed by "Retro/Grade". Oops!
I am so looking forward to Routine.
Also, am I the only one who thinks that The Evil Within looks too over-the-top and goofy? I don't know, I'm starting to think that Shinji Mikami doesn't have it in him to make a truly scary game anymore.

They also played the trailer in slow motion because I guess he had more to say about the game than the trailer had time for. Hahaha Anyway, I am still really honored to be featured! IGN is a big site and they don't usually give indies that much love, so that is super awesome!
I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, but The Evil Within doesn't look overly promising from what they've shown so far.
Also, I was excited about Routine until I heard there was permadeath. I am REALLY bad at games. I had to get a mod to get through Amnesia: Justine. hahah I thought that was kind of a failed experiment. I much preferred the forgiving gameplay of Amnesia or Penumbra.

Whoah, permadeath in Routine? That's the first I've heard about that, and I don't know if I like it either. Hopefully the game won't be too difficult. I died so many times in Outlast and Amnesia, it turns out I'm not very good at running away from things.
For Daylight, I'm interested to see how a procedurally generated horror game is going to work. It sounds odd, as the idea in horror seems to be creating a carefully crafted experience to scare the player, and I don't know how that's going to play out if the layout is procedurally generated.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat as you. I think procedural horror is going to be EXTREMELY difficult to get right, but I'm interested to see how it works. I think permadeath would work best in a procedural horror game just because there can't be much of a story.
Someone else pointed out that the SCP game is procedural horror, and it works pretty well. I think procedural horror games are probably best suited when you are fighting off enemies rather than creating an environment that tells a story.
