Showing Help screen when someone selects New Game?

Hey I was just thinking, I'd imagine a majority of people never read the help menu in games (I'm guilty of this for sure), so what about having the help screen that shows the controls come up automatically when you select New Game? That way any brand new players have only themselves to blame if they never figure out there are buttons/keys for Run and Use.

I don't know if this has ever even been an issue that you've seen, or will be one at any point, but just tossing it out there.

That actually already happens, but it only happens the first time you play the game, which is probably why you aren't getting it.

It's a very good suggestion, and we did get people not realizing there was a sprint or not knowing how to do it, so we added it in.

Interestingly, Thomas Grip felt like he forgot about the sprint by the time it was necessary to use. (I thought I heard this somewhere else too, but I don't remember where) I'm a bit conflicted by this. One one hand, I think it's good that players don't just sprint through the beginning section. I like that sprint is saved for special occasions and otherwise, you move at the normal pace absorbing the atmosphere. If people get stuck at the baby monster segments, that's bad. He recommended putting a required sprint section in earlier in the game, but I can't think of a way to do it that I'd be happy with, so I guess if people forget about it, that's a bummer. Maybe they'll check a walkthrough? :-/

Oh whoops, I completely missed and/or forgot about that! That should be plenty for most people then. I'd imagine a lot of players would at least try out all the controls in the beginning section.

The simple control scheme should help out a lot with this too, that's another thing in NN's favor. I would think that anyone getting stuck would eventually look it up or even go to the help menu.

I hope our simple control scheme works out. Some would argue the mechanics are too simple, but the game really isn't about the mechanics...
