I really like Papers, Please, but I can see that it's not for everyone. Are you the kind of person that likes to analyze things? If so, that's basically the gameplay. Granted, I haven't gotten very far into it (and I hear it gets really interesting), but so far, the game is a fun little exercise in looking at people's passports for inconsistencies (ex: Passport already expired, etc), and following increasingly stringent rules from your oppressive Eastern European Employer.

Telltale Games' The Walking Dead Season Two just dropped their first episode this week and I was so all over that. This is one of the few things I've preordered in a long time. It's a pretty solid episode, there are just a few minor character issues that didn't feel the most fleshed out, but part of that is due to the first episode needing to introduce all these people and get the series rolling, and I'm totally forgiving of it. Telltale seems to have continued to uphold the standards for writing even with the departure of Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin, the lead writers for Season 1. I am really looking forward to where this season ends up going.

Now to begin the 1-2 month wait for the next episode, ah the downsides of not just waiting until they've all been released...

I'm debating whether I should play Walking Dead S2e01 now or wait until closer until episode 2 is released. I'm still working on Super Mario 3D World with my wife, and I'm on the final dungeon in in Zelda: Between Worlds. Hopefully, I'm getting more games for Christmas. :)

My wife and I have been playing The Walking Dead Season 1 together, and agonizing over the drama of the difficult choices that game forces! We were up until 2 am last night playing (well, moreso I play, she tells me what dialogue to choose and screams at me to click or press 'q'), and we were so worked up afterwards that we had to watch "Community" on hulu just to calm down.

Other games I've been playing have mostly been on Ouya:

- A Ride into the Mountains is a beautiful archery game with an Asian folk style
- Meltdown is one of the coolest Ouya games I've played. A third person action ass-kickin' shooter

I've been meaning to check out Killing Floor: Calamity on Ouya, but it's been so busy at work. My vacation started today, so maybe I'll get some more gaming in this upcoming week or so.

Well currently I'm tossing between two games!

I was playing Saints Row 4 and I've gotten a decent ways into it, so far it's pretty great I must say. I wasn't much a fan of Saints Row 3 I mean it was decent but there was something just sort of off about the whole thing. I'm not quite sure what it was but Saints Row 4 just took everything, ramped it up to 11 and is way better for it. I love the whole super power angle as it makes the combat and traversal much more entertaining, plus the story is pretty funny throughout at the moment so I'm enjoying it!

I've also picked up Deadly Premonition on the PC. Now the PC version is pretty garbage I know but if you apply the available mods to it to make it playable then it's fine! The game itself though is pretty much everything I hoped (As I've watched Giant Bomb's playthrough a couple years back). It's technically pretty poor but has so much heart that I can't help but love everything about it. The story, the characters, the voice acting, the stiff gameplay, the pretty ugly graphics, the hilariously inappropriate music at times, it's all just brilliant and I want to play it all the way to the end for sure :D

@JPrice

I'll be building a new gaming pc with gifts I'm receiving for Xmas, and my graphics card came with Saints Row IV. I'm very excited to play it! It was one of those AMD deals where you get three free games, so I'm also excited to play Thief once it drops!

Fun fact, I actually ended up ebaying the card for $380 bucks (this wasn't a gift, but something I bought personally for this pc), because the litecoin traders went crazy for AMD cards. I made almost $200 profit, so I got a GTX 770, but still got to keep the games.

Awesome! I'm so glad to hear that someone else enjoyed the game! I pretty much never 100% games, but I played Deadly Premonition for over 40 hours, so I could get 100%. It was so amazing! I wish I would have waited for the PC version because the frame rate on the PS3 Director's Cut was really bad, and it hurt my eyes if I played too long.

Personally, I much prefer Nvidia cards just because in my experience, the drivers are much better. On Retro/Grade, we ran into issues with some ATI cards that limited the size of point sprites to 256x256 pixels and also culled them based on the center point. While these were older cards, and hopefully the newer ones don't have this limitation, it was a huge pain in the ass to work around.

Also, every so often the drivers would mess up Retro/Grade. In addition, Nvidia has much better Linux driver support if you are interested in SteamOS. All in all I think the Nvidia was a better choice.

However, it'll be interesting to see how mantle preforms. OpenGL is a not a great match for modern hardware making it difficult to optimize the driver. DirectX is definitely better, but there are still plenty of inefficiencies due to the fact that it is providing a generic abstraction instead of direct access as it was originally intended.

All in all, I can't imagine many developers will be interested in reimplementing and then reoptimizing their engine for ANOTHER API. It's basically the same philosophy behind 3DFX's glide, which I don't think anyone remembers fondly. haha

Oh awesome, nice one hahaa :D

There's not much that's been announced in 2014 so far that I'm looking forward to really, but it is only coming up to the start of that year so I'm hoping for something to pop up!
