Re: 164 - 0.6 Build Changes

Thanks for explaining the anisotropic filtering. I've often wondered what exactly I used to deactivate there in so many games to improve performance. ;-) Like deactivating/lowering antialiasing, that one seemed to often really improve fps for me. Not a lot of talk about changes, though, but that's f...

Re: Action movie guilty pleasures

Okay, I shouldn't even mention this one here since it's NOT a "guilty pleasure" of mine. I'm perfectly happy endorsing this one as the absolute masterpiece it is, but since you folks mentioned the Escape-movies... Big Trouble In Little China. Another Carpenter flick. Also: Best. Action mov...

Re: 162 - Next game

It will also be about nightmares and horror and so on but won't be related story-wise at all? Then go with something evocative of the first title but distinct. Maybe. I'm trying to stick with the alliteration, but that's not so easy to do. "Unending Utopia"? "Deeper Delusions"? &...

Re: Steam Horror Game Roundup Part 2 - Doorways

I actually own this and Anna (Extended Edition) but didn't find the time to play either yet. I guess they both aren't that great, but have some potential. I think I got them from either an Indie Gala or a Bundlestars sale, so the price was really, really low and I can't really complain. :-)

Re: Action movie guilty pleasures

Ghosts of Mars, a John Carpenter movie. It has: Uma Thurman as a matriarchal law enforcer. A slow, somewhat spooky beginning. Aliens. Ghosts. Alien ghosts. "Fast zombie"-like action scenes. Hints towards an interesting historical background (of the aliens), though never fully explored. Apo...

Re: 160 - Blockbuster Narrative Lessons

MovieBob on The Escapist liked the new one, much better than the first three, at least, although that's not saying much. That said, I really don't want to see it. Just the first one was so bad, so full of stereotypes, stupid, childish jokes and unlikeable characters. No way am I watching the others ...

Re: 159 - Reward Update

Considering how confusing the final moments of the Kickstarter were, it might be a good idea to give people another survey/list of options for rewards once they are on the horizon/it's clear what sorts of rewards may become available (already predicted, new/unexpected, not possible/cancelled) etc., ...

Re: Haunting moments in videogames?

Haunting moments... well, Dead Space is full of jumpscares and whatnot. But one of the most effective parts for me was finding the dead cultists, with the spikes through their skulls, serenely poised, unbound. Being killed is one thing. But killing yourself/letting yourself get killed because of you...
