Re: Suggestions?

Some "empty" rooms did serve as respawn points, but I did occasionally feel like there were just too many similar areas without anything going on. I liked the asylum level, but it took awhile to really get going.

So, what's next? I picked up The Evil Within on sale, so might try that one before too long.

Re: 216 - That Dragon, Cancer

Yeah, That Dragon, Cancer, does sound pretty unique. Even games that have tried to make a point and generate emotions that aren't necessarily fun, like Depression Quest, Papers Please, or This War Of Mine, have generally had some sort of gamey mechanics.

Re: 215 - Design of Haunted Houses

Yeah, most haunted houses are short and pretty cheap if you really look at them, which makes jump scares pretty important. Some of the very best can really impress with makeup and set design. Probably the best I've been to myself is Land Of Illusion in Middletown, Ohio. It had some TV quality zombie...

Re: 211 - Is Kickstarter Dead?

It is REALLY tough to plan a reasonable ship date and stick to it. It was a real challenge to get Neverending Nightmares out on time, and it's something we totally failed to do on Retro/Grade. In hindsight, we probably should have cancelled Retro/Grade, but had we taken kickstarter money, that woul...

Re: 213 - *spoilers* The Endings

Or at least the happier ending. But really, I suspect most people have some pretty messed up dreams every now and then. There's a whole forum section dedicated to them, after all.

Re: 213 - *spoilers* The Endings

I never thought of the Wayward Dreamer ending as the nightmare never ending. It seemed to me like the happy ending. After having one horrible nightmare after another, Thomas wakes up and nothing is wrong. The world appears normal, and he sees Gabby sleeping soundly. Relieved, he gives her a kiss, bu...

Well, Super World Karts only had a successful Kickstarter in September 2014.

Re: The active Kickstarter projects discussion thread.

Denis Dyack described it as "actively in production". But I haven't heard a lot of details at this point. http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/10/31/denis-dyack-announces-new-entertainment-company He was on IGN's Nintendo podcast. It's a good interview, but talked a lot more about the GameCube...
