Re: Art Style for Neverending Nightmares 2?

We are using an improved animation system from Neverending Nightmares. We started Neverending Nightmares with pure vertex and mesh based animations. We've added a hierarchy to the meshes, which is like a skeleton. Then we added new features, so we can control just parts of the hierarchy in order to...

Re: Art Style for Neverending Nightmares 2?

Have you thought about emphasizing the hand-drawn nature of the art style by leaving in "mistakes" to call attention to it? Sort of like how the character textures in The Walking Dead sometimes have outlines that overshoot corners and angles, not only on the character's bodies themselves, ...

Re: 248 - Bad Taste?

I think that it's sort of a sliding scale between gratification and gravitas. You could easily make the same thing either awesome or disturbing depending entirely on how you present it to the audience. A lot of it has to do with the emotional response, and although this is really abstract and intang...

Re: 247 - Metro 2033 Redux

I absolutely love the Metro series. Did you play it on PC? Did they ever fix the random crashing bug?

Re: Suggestions?

I re-read that bird "puzzle" I suggested earlier, and it reminded me of the idea that inspired that. My original idea involved needing to get past a locked door to progress, but the locked door is in the back of a hunting lodge/cabin/shack or whatever. Inside it is a room, and in the room ...

Re: 246 - Naming Nightmares

Not knowing much about the game itself makes it a little tricky, but here's what I do know: It involves nightmares in some way It at least partially takes place in some ancient location It involves superstition in some way It involves guilt and whatnot in some way So. Eh? Evil Everlasting Deeply Dre...

Re: 244 - Five Nights at Freddy's

Unfortunately not. The biggest addition to the enemies is the puppet , which is basically a jack-in-the-box type of thing. There's a music box that you have to keep wound by opening up the monitor, switching to the room, and then clicking and holding a button to slooooowly wind it up. There's a mete...

Re: 244 - Five Nights at Freddy's

Yeah, like I said, the second game did a good job addressing problems of the first game, but then makes it even harder by piling on tons and tons of extra bots. Firstly, you only use up power when you turn on the lights, so using your monitor doesn't technically use any power. However, each camera h...

Re: Is anyone getting "DreadOut"?

Just hopped on steam with my cup of coffee, and lo and behold, tucked away in the corner with no pomp and circumstance, is DreadOut Act 2. Also, apparently they upgraded the engine a bit, added the ability to adjust various annoyances in the options (hint messages on/off, limbo distance, limbo "...

Re: 234 - Intrinsic vs. Extrinsic Rewards

Perhaps you could have achievements, but program it in such a way that the achievement doesn't trigger until after you pause or quit the game, so the "achievement get!" notification doesn't pop up during gameplay?
